Do dogs need clothes?

Some people say that by nature dogs do not need winter outfits because of their fur. However, how warm dogs can keep themselves is dependent on their breed, size, and age. If your pet does not have a heavy coat of fur or seems reluctant to go outside in the cold weather, it may be time to invest in some fashionable winter clothing options, like a doggy coat, sweater, hat, or booties.

Dogs and climate change.

Where your pets grow up will determine if they are equipped to handle colder weather. By nature, some dogs are built to handle the cooler weather better than other breeds. Not only are some dogs made for cold weather, they may prefer it. However, if those winter-ready dogs were born and raised in a warm climate, they may not be ready for cold weather if relocated from their homes. Keep this in mind as you determine if your fur baby is in need for winter wear, like a stylish jacket.

If you have decided that your dog needs winter clothing, measure your pet. Get the proper measurements for your dog to make sure outfits will fit properly and not choke, squeeze, or stifle your pet. When dressing your dog, you want to ensure that she is comfortable and can continue with daily activities without being held back by her new attire.

Dog fashion is in style all year round for some pet owners, but make sure you pet is happy, warm, safe, and comfortable all winter long.
