October 2019 Dog of the Month: Maverick

Maverick is our darling Dog of the Month! Maverick was found by someone who had adopted from Polka Dogz Pet Rescue (PDPR) who immediately called to see if we would take him in and care for him.

Maverick had been hit by a car and had a broken leg that was on the mend, then he was hit by a car again and had a severed spine. When found, he was underweight and pulling himself around by his front legs.

His owners were told that their special little guy will never walk again, but he doesn’t know that. He continues to try with the best “go to attitude.” Maverick now has a wheelchair and joins PDPR at all their events. He visits local elementary schools to help educate children on the importance of being a good pet owner. Maverick is a good K-9 citizen who enjoys people and dogs of all sizes.

Maverick is a great role model for all of us, having overcome such adversity—leaving his past behind, he wakes each morning happy to spread joy with others. This little Jack Russell mix continues to impress and inspire each day! Maverick has become the mascot for Polka Dogz Pet Rescue!  They became so attached to him, and he epitomizes what we at Polka Dogz  feel that rescue is all about. This special pooch is such a happy dog despite the things he has had to deal with. He has found his furrever home, but PDPR has other dogs up for adoption who need a loving home.
